When We Seal Your Ducts
You’re just one step away from enhancing your home’s comfort, improving air quality, and increasing efficiency. What happens next?
Home Preparation
- In order to locate all the air vents, we require access to every room in the home. Please ensure there is enough clearance for our team to work effectively.
- Homeowners are advised to relocate any furniture obstructing vents throughout the house. Alternatively, our team will responsibly handle the movement of items on the day of the job if necessary.
- On the day of the job, please be aware that your heating/cooling system will need to be off while we complete the sealing process. Please plan accordingly.
- On the scheduled workday, please ensure that all smoke and/or security alarms are deactivated during the sealing process. If your alarm systems are wired, please make sure they are turned off beforehand to avoid any potential delays.
- If there are pets or small children in your residence, please take into consideration that there will be heavy equipment, cords, and plastic tubing placed throughout the home, posing potential hazards. Plan accordingly for their safety.
- As a precautionary measure, individuals with chronic respiratory conditions or those who are pregnant are advised to leave the premises during the sealing process.
Day of Sealing
- After arriving to your home, our crew will begin prepping for the Aeroscal process. This will include setting up equipment, locating 3 direct electrical circuits (typically requires the use of extension cords that will be running to/from multiple rooms throughout the house), blocking off all air vents and creating an injection point near the furnace or air handler.
-
Prior to initiating the sealing process, our team will conduct a pre-seal test to assess the precise level of leakage in your duct system. Following the completion of the job, a post-seal measurement will be conducted to demonstrate the overall improvement and you will be provided with a “Certificate of Completion” which will include pre and post numbers for your device.
-
The total job time can range from approximately 4-6 hours, depending on the amount of leakage found in your duct system. In extreme cases, job time can be extended beyond the typical range.
-
Aeroscal duct sealing is the most effective method of repairing leaky duct systems, with the majority of outcomes showcasing an enhancement of over 90%. Nevertheless, instances may arise where inadequate duct design and/or construction lead to severe duct leakage, necessitating the cutting into drywall to access and rectify the problematic areas.
